Demonstration of Standard: Artifact or Narrative Response
    Summary of Artifact
Standard 1: The Administrator has an understanding of and demonstrates competence in the teacher standards
    __Written Narrative__
    __Applied Research__
    Written narrative on Standard 1.
This is my applied research paper. It concerns benchmark memorization and it's effect on comprehension. It played in important part in both my grad school career as well as how I've developed as an instructional leader.
Standard 2: The Administrator leads by facilitating the development, articulation, implementation, and stewardship of a vision of learning that is shared and supported by the school community.
__Presentation Created for Middle School Inservice 2013-2014__
This was one of my first big jobs for the school year. It prepared me for what I will need to set up as an administrator simply for something as simple and quick as a district inservice. It was, however, a big deal because it marked the beginning of a new phase in both the middle school and our charter school.
Standard 3: The Administrator manages by advocating, nurturing, and sustaining a school culture and instructional program conducive to pupil learning and staff professional growth.
    __Leadership Style Paper__
__Final Paper for Legal Class Regarding Issues of Dress Code in public schools.__
This is a paper written for the purpose of researching different leadership styles in an effort to create the "perfect" work organization. It was an interesting assignment because it required me to research several different leadership styles that we had briefly discussed in class as well as styles I was unfamiliar with altogether. It is a topic that is brought up regularly during my time with my administrator.
This is the final paper I had to write for my legal studies course. This course truly shaped the way I will be approaching my career as an administrator. The paper was the culmination of a great deal of research and work. My professor requested that he be able to use my paper as an example of what he is looking for in a student's research papers.
Standard 4: The Administrator ensures management of the organization, operations, finances and resources for a safe, efficient, and effective learning environment.
__Ripon Middle School and Catalyst Middle School Schedule__
This is a picture of the schedule wall that I stared at for a great deal of hours over the summer of 2013. It was a new experience to move these pieces around like a puzzle. Understanding the complexities of a schedule is something I feel is important for all teachers. It has helped me work with different teams throughout this last semester when there were questions on how/why things are set up the way they are. It took months to create this wall.
Standard 5: The Administrator models collaborating with families and community members, responding to diverse community interests and needs, and mobilizing community resources.
    __Catalyst Governance Board Minutes__
This document is a set of minutes from one of the governance board meetings I participated in as an active member.
Standard 6: The Administrator acts with integrity, fairness, and in an ethical manner.
    __Lead Teacher Description__
This is a description for the lead teachers in Catalyst Charter Middle School. It states their duties/responsibilities. I was able to work closely on this description with my principal. It is something we have needed to develop for some time.
Standard 7: The Administrator understands, responds to, and interacts with the larger political, social, economic, legal, and cultural context that affects schooling.
    __Video Explaining Standards-based grading__
__Photo of Presentation at Mandatory Reporting Session__
This is a youtube video that I created that briefly explains why we as a school use standards-based grading and report cards. This was a very hot topic when we began doing this and hundreds of parents were frustrated and upset with the change. I took the chance to create a short video, mostly for students, and it has proven to be of interest to a few thousand people.
This is a photo and an written narrative concerning a presentation given at the 2013-14 Mandatory Reporting Session for Charter Schools in Wisconsin.

This is a copy of the promotion/retention policy for Catalyst that I was able to develop. It was reviewed by my principal as well as the governance board, parent committees, etc. It caused quite a problem with our school board because

is a simple screenshot from infinite campus. I am using this for my artifact, mostly because showing other screenshots would have sensitive/privileged information. I learned a great deal about this system over the summerphoto and this last semester. From scheduling, to logging discipline, to moving student schedules around throughout the semester, I havean written narrative concerning a whole new respect for this system that is usedpresentation given at most schools in the state.

My time log shows that I have spent a good deal of time working on this specific standards. From one-on-one conversations with teachers who were acting in a divisive way to working with team members and governance board members, I have worked quite hard to advocate a sustaining school culture that I believe lends itself to students learning in a more rigorous, way. This work also included challenging my co-workers to develop as professionals, which was not an easy task. Overall, I learned just how hard this standard can be when there is a great deal of change happening in a district.

    than ever.
Standard 6: The Administrator acts with integrity, fairness, and in an ethical manner.
Whether I was working with our budget and deciding who should receive funds for activities and supplies or speaking with individuals about the appropriate way to deal with co-workers, I learned just how many people begin watching you when you're the person in charge. It has been well known in my school that I am an administrative intern as well as a lead teacher/governance board member. It seems that everyone becomes the fairness police when it comes
Standard 7: The Administrator understands, responds to, and interacts with the larger political, social, economic, legal, and cultural context that affects schooling.
Since taking the Legal Studies course for this certification, I have become fascinated with public school law. I have also made several changes not only in the way I work with my students, but in the way I approach situations that arise with discipline, guidance, IEPs, etc. I have researched and implemented different techniques when it comes to working with other teachers as well as having conversations with the public regarding the political context of our schools. This year has been an eye-opening experience and I look forward to learning more and working more with administration in the future. This is an area that is in constant change, more so now than ever. I feel fortunate to be possibly entering administration during this such a time of change.
Below, you will find my Internship Final Performance Document.
